Goal

Develop scalable technologies that can automate operations and maintenance and business functions. The benefits of these technologies include more capable decision-making, analysis of complex data for human analysis, and a reduction of human errors, such as decision-making subjectivity.

Develop new forms of data gathering using technologies like drones, retrofitting solutions, and data sharing solutions. This may lead to a reduction in the workforce while leveraging new sources of data and insights.

Develop data architecture and data analytics requirements for integrated digital environment, streamline the deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, and cost reduction opportunities for integrated operations for nuclear.

Outcome

  • Advanced monitoring, and data processing to replace labor-intensive plant support tasks.
  • Software tools allowing utilities to optimize maintenance, maximize efficiencies, and automate manually performed activities.
  • Technical, economic, and risk assessment of data architecture and analytics for integrated operations of nuclear.

Planned Major Accomplishments

Advanced Remote Monitoring for Operation Readiness (ARMOR)

  • Develop a method to enable anomaly detection methods to track plant state and adjust its detection to avoid reporting plant transients as anomalies.
  • Create a library of the developed anomaly detection methods for border industry use.

Data Architecture and Analytics

  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of digitalization and information automation.
  • Deploy the equipment condition monitoring platform framework.
  • Demonstrate explainable predictive maintenance technology.
  • Assist a utility in the implementation of data and artificial intelligence lifecycle management.
  • Develop a tool for anomaly detection that can be used by operations and monitoring and diagnostics centers of nuclear utilities.
  • Demonstrate how artificial intelligence can assist utilities in inspections.
